Michelle Smith D.V.M

Dr. Michelle Smith joined The Shot Spot team in July after relocating to McKinney from Oklahoma, where she was born and raised. Dr. Smith graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Smith was interested in animals at a young age proclaiming at the age of 5 that she was going to become a veterinarian. She worked in veterinary clinics throughout her college career and volunteered at both the Tulsa and Oklahoma City zoos. She has experience working in both corporate and private medicine. Although she has always loved dogs and cats and has 2 cats of her own, a Bengal and rescued tabby, her true interest lies in exotic and wildlife medicine. She has worked with a variety of animals ranging from rhinos, lions and elephants to raptors, reptiles, tortoises, pocket pets and wildlife. She spent 6 years doing wildlife rehabilitation with the Tulsa WINGIT organization where she rehabilitated native squirrels, opossums and turtles.

We are excited to have Dr. Smith as part of our Shot Spot family and are happy she will be able to use her extensive skills with exotic animals to better serve our clients.
