Summer Fun Ideas For Your Pet

Summer Fun Ideas For Your Pet

Fun summer activities with your pet

Summer is an excellent time to enjoy the outdoors in Dallas with your four-legged pals. Here are some fun, hot-weather things to do with your pet in our area:

Puppy Pool Party – A quick visit to the store for a kiddie pool and barbecue essentials is a start to some great fun in the backyard. Invite some friends over and have the pups cool off in the pool while the humans enjoy a tasty barbecue!

Trail Hike – Take a hike with the dog, but be sure he’ll be able to handle the trail first. Avoiding the heat of the day is wise for both of you, and don’t forget to bring a doggie water receptacle in addition to your own water.

Dog Park – Check out the local dog parks in Dallas so they can roam off leash. It’s a great way to meet other furry friends and human ones too!

Therapy Dogs – A mild-mannered, gentle dog is a great option for a therapy dog. Take a look at local hospitals or nursing homes to see if they have a need for one. Not only will you be able to enjoy beating the heat indoors, but you’ll be able to bring joy to others as well!

Camping – Camping trips are a great way to bond with your pet, especially if you let him sleep in the tent. That closeness is an experience that will be difficult to replicate elsewhere.

There have been studies done to show that people who include their pets in activities tend to form better bonds and longer lasting friendships with them. An added bonus is being exposed to different situations allows your pet to have less anxiety and be less timid. Not only will you be creating some great memories, but you’ll be creating a wonderful companion as well.

Regardless of the activities, you choose to engage in this summer with your four-legged buddy, you’ll need to be sure to talk to your veterinarian about potential health risks and what precautions should be taken. Taking advantage of Shot Spot’s mobile services to keep up on your pet’s vaccinations may prevent many of the diseases that can be picked up outdoors.
